This course will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to an emergency situation in an education and care setting including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This course is suitable for anyone working in long day care, family day care, preschool and outside of school hours (OOSH) care services as well as parents and caregivers of children.  It provides the necessary skills required to provide a first aid response to infants, children as well as adults. This course includes First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training

This unit of competency has been approved by Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority  (ACECQA) who have deemed it to satisfy all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

This course is delivered in accordance with State/Territory First Aid Codes of Practice, Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and workplace procedures, allowing your workplace to meet its legal requirements in relation to the provision of first aid in the workplace.

Our professional trainers will guide you through the knowledge and skills to give you the confidence to respond to or manage an emergency situation.  

Course Duration: 8 hours face to face training plus pre-course workbook

  • Medical conditions: Cardiac emergencies, Diabetes, Stroke
  • Epilepsy, Seizures and convulsions
  • Drowning
  • Extremes of heat and cold
  • Eye and ear injuries
  • Head, neck, spinal injuries
  • Fractures, dislocations, strains and sprains
  • Manage extremes of heat and cold
  • Poisoning and toxic substances
  • Bites and stings management
  • Legislative compliance with Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)

Pre Course Online Workbook

An online First Aid workbook needs to be completed prior to course commencement. The online workbook link and log in details are emailed to participants once enrolment is received. This pre course Online Workbook takes approximately 1.0 hour to complete and consists of an online First Aid  manual to assist participants with answering a series of multiple choice questions. Answers can be saved and finished any time prior to the course commencement.

Assessment

This course employs a variety of assessment methods in order to determine competency. These include verbal questioning, multiple choice questions, practical scenarios and demonstration.

**Please note it is a requirement of this course that the practical demonstration of CPR on an adult and child manikin must be performed on the on the floor**

Course Requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Certificate

On successful completion of your course you will be issued electronically a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment:

 

  • HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting, and
  • HLTAID003 Provide First Aid, and

  • HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support, and

  • HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Which will be will be issued by Safety Corp Pty Ltd (RTO #91694).  The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines recommends that HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting skills are refreshed every 3 years and HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills are refreshed annually.
