HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to respond to First Aid emergencies using Oxygen Resuscitation equipment and Automatic External Defibrillators – AED. The course applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.
This course is delivered in accordance with State/Territory First Aid Codes of Practice, Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and workplace procedures, allowing your workplace to meet its legal requirements in relation to the provision of first aid in the workplace.

- Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- Basic Life Support DRSABCD action plan
- Unconscious casualty
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Demonstration and use of a defibrillator (AED)
- Respond to regurgitation or vomiting
- Infection control
- Soft bag resuscitation
- Administer oxygen to an unconscious/conscious casualty
- Oxygen delivery systems
- Oropharyngeal airways
- Assess vital signs (respirations, pulse and temperature)
- Suction device use
- Incident reporting – written and oral
- Administere oxygen safely at correct flow rate
- Maintain resuscitation equipment
- Disassemble oxygen equipment
- Safe storage
- Clean / decontamination procedures
- Diagnose and report faults
- Locate and interpret workplace policies and procedures
This course is only conducted as required, and with a minimum number of participants. This course can be combined with HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid.
This course employs a variety of assessment methods in order to determine competency. These include verbal questioning, multiple choice questions, practical scenarios and demonstration.
**Please note it is a requirement of this course that the practical demonstration of CPR on an adult manikin must be performed on the on the floor**
There are no pre-requisites for this course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

On successful completion of your course you will be issued electronically a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment:
HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation, and
HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Which will be will be issued by Safety Corp Pty Ltd (RTO #91694). The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines recommends that HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills are refreshed annually.
